WHAT’S MADE YOU CHOOSE PODIATRY AS A CAREER?

My dad was a prescribing orthotist. I used to help him during summer school breaks. I got familiar with feet early!

I enjoyed the hands-on approach and the idea of working for myself.

I was also a toe walker when I was younger. Couldn’t figure it out but I had orthotics since I was younger. I had wearing issues early on and unfortunately the comfort issues couldn’t be addressed or at least where not considered important. So, as I got older, I became intrigued because I was wondering why no one was listening to me and no one could give me an explanation.

I also used to get severe plantar foot blisters as a teenager. I used to fence and play lots of basketball. Again I was intrigued around figuring out the reasons and in time became to figure out how to manage them on my own.
